Mission & Vision

The mission of Ravenswood Student Ministries is to create participatory space within the larger mission of Ravenswood Covenant Church for youth (6th – 12th grade, or age-equivalent) both of the Ravenswood Covenant Church congregation and of the surrounding neighborhood. Youth participating in Ravenswood Student Ministries develop real and lasting friendships, explore faith in a safe and shared environment, and express life with God in a heartfelt and meaningful email headerway.

Programs

Ravenswood Student Ministries coordinates many programs, special events, camping, volunteer opportunities, outreach and social gatherings for youth to help foster this vision throughout the year. The Ravenswood Student Ministries volunteer team consists of adults (ages 18+) who are called to be a consistent and caring presence in the lives of our youth, and a role model of Christian faith.

The coordinator of Ravenswood Student Ministries is Kaleb Nyquist.

The Raven

RavenSometimes, we use a picture of a raven as a sort of mascot or logo. Not only does this bird reflect the name of the neighborhood, but we find it to be a powerful symbol from Scripture, an example of a creature that appears to be ordinary, commonplace and unappreciated but actually is loved uniquely by God. "With what can we compare the kingdom of God, or what parable will we use for it? It is like a mustard seed, which, when sown upon the ground, is the smallest of all the seeds on earth; yet when it is sown it grows up and becomes the greatest of all shrubs, and puts forth large branches, so that the birds of the air can make nests in its shade." (Mark 4:30-32 NRS)
